Mianoora Kosonen is a professional classical pianist from southern Finland, living in Scotland. A graduate from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (BMus Hons piano performance , MA piano accompaniment 2021), having first studied piano performance at the Helsinki Conservatoire graduating in 2016, she currently works as a freelance pianist and accompanist, chamber musician, piano teacher and music educator in Glasgow. She is an awarded live performer and an experienced music teacher.
Mianoora is an enthousiastic chamber musician and she performs in a part of variety of different groups. She is a founding member of the Oscen Ensemble and the Women In Chamber Music Collective, and a part of the Kosonen-Ranieri Duo. A busy live performer, she frequently plays around Scotland as a freelance pianist. Her latest performances and projects have included performing at the the Linlithgow Concert series, Wellwood Concert series in Irvine, the Spire concert series in Glasgow, Edinburgh festival Fringe, and recitals around various venues in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK, such as the Oban Cathedral, Cathedral of the Isles, St. Marks Church, St. Konan’s Kirk, St. Brides church, Jordanhill Church and Wellington Church, to mention a few recent ones.

Music educator
As a music teacher with over 10 years of experience, Mianoora is inspired by teaching and the learning process, and she aims to make learning music fun & accessible for all. She strives to make students as excited about music as she is, regardless of the age and ability of the student! As an active live performer, Mianoora can offer examples and lessons learned from real life situations that happen in performance and music practice.
Mianoora has a specific interest in teaching everybody a relaxed, healthy piano technique that they can use to grow their musicality. Her focus on lessons is on developing a good overall understanding of music as a language, alongside with developing a good piano technique that helps with finding ease and joy in playing the instrument. She believes good technique is a basis and tool for musical expression to flourish. Her pupils have won marks with Merits & Distinction in their musical examinations, among other prestigious awards, and her pupils also frequently perform in concerts.
